Dems On Cusp Of Senate Control

Washington: Democrats in the US are on the verge of gaining control of the US Senate after narrow, come-from-behind victories in run-off elections in Georgia that was a replay of the presidential elections.

The yet-to-be certified results, which strengthened the hands of the Democratic Party and is a setback to President Donald Trump and his supporters who continue to throw bogus charges of election fraud, came even as a joint session of the US Congress convened in the capital to formally recognise Joe Biden as the country’s 46th President. Agitated Trump loyalists gathered near White House for a “stop the steal” rally for the defeated president. “We will never give up, we will never concede,” Trump told supporters shortly before the Congress met. “You don’t concede when there’s theft involved.”
