As gyms are set to reopen in Unlock 3.0 (on August 5), gymowners are ready with their social distancing guidelines for clients amid the new normal. A formal Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), highlighting social distancing norms and other guidelines to contain Covid-19 spread, will be issued by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare,but city gyms are gearing up to take their own safety measures as they gear up to reopen again.
MEMBERS TO GO TO GYM IN PHASES
Srikanth Reddy, owner of a gym in Banjara Hills says, “We will not allow many people in the gym at once. If there are more clients, we might ask them to come in a phased manner — some in the morning and some in the evening. The idea is to provide a safe gymming experience to those working out. We have completely shelved group workouts. Gloves are made mandatory and customers must carry their own sanitisers as well. The trainers will not be helping the clients lift heavy dumbbells. We want people to ensure social distancing norms are followed.”
