Varanasi: The campaign for the seventh and last round of UP elections reached a crescendo here with PM Narendra Modi taking out a well-attended roadshow that lasted nearly four hours and covered three assembly segments of the city.

It was a massive show of strength in his parliamentary constituency Varanasi, considered the nerve of east UP, a day before the curtains fell on the high-octane electioneering in the state. His three-km roadshow covered Varanasi South, Varanasi North and Varanasi Cantt constituencies.

The highlight of the roadshow was the huge turnout of women. At some places, they were even leading processions. All senior BJP politicians camping in Varanasi, Amit Shah, J P Nadda, Dharmendra Pradhan and Smriti Irani were present on the occasion.
