Covid cases below 500 for 3 days now in city

Never in the last 500 days has the state’s daily Covid tally consistently been less than 2,000 for an entire week. Apart from the March 2020-May 2020 (when the pandemic had begun) and four days in the January-February period, daily cases in the state have been between 2,000 and 68,000.

Mumbai:

The state government added 1,632 cases on Friday and reported 40 deaths. With this, the total cases rose to 65.99 lakh and deaths stood at 1,39,965.

In Mumbai as well, cases have been below 500 for three days now. “Covid-19 is definitely on the decline in Mumbai. Even if we increase the daily number of testing, we are likely to get between 400 and 500 cases only. We don’t have to worry too much about a blimp or rise in Covid-19 cases in the next few weeks,”' said BMC additional municipal commissioner Suresh Kakani.

BMC’s Covid update on Friday showed 420 cases from 38,242 tests. The number of sealed buildings dropped to 37 from 50+ a week back.
