Gyms Flex Minds, Work Out Plans As They Await Reopening
The Times of India Mumbai|July 14, 2020
Mumbai: Salil Samant, a Mahim resident, is waiting to hit the gym again. “They should consider throwing gyms open. After all, it’s about health and fitness,” says the 28-year-old who has been missing his gym routine for over three months. “I’ll follow rules, but no way will I stop gymming,” says Samant.

Gyms Flex Minds, Work Out Plans As They Await Reopening

With salons opening up as part of Mission Begin Again, gyms owners in the city are hoping they too will be allowed to restart. Reconciled to the fact that gymming in the new normal will not be the same, gym owners have been sweating it out, devising plans for a reboot.

Gyms shut in March itself when the coronavirus struck. Their enclosed spaces where people sweat it out in close proximity were seen as hubs for the infection to spread.

The state has said it will frame a standard operating procedure before a decision on reopening of gyms is taken. A few gym owners met online with Union minister Nitin Gadkari.
