Three seasons ago, the Delhi Capitals camp was deemed as a nursery for Indian cricket. It had a host of uncapped players touted to lead the next generation of Indian cricket. Fearless, confident, in-your-face and eager to make the grade, the Delhi franchise shed their scratchy history and showcased a breathtaking brand of cricket over the last two seasons. In the playoffs for the second time in two seasons, DC’s investment in the young brigade looked justified.
The last three weeks in this IPL tell a different story though. Teams have drilled through DC’s hard surface and exposed a fragile core. Sunrisers Hyderabad, their challengers for the second spot in the IPL final, have exposed their weaknesses in the league phase, as did the first finalists Mumbai Indians. The Capitals camp would then be wary of SRH on Sunday.
