As you traverse the journey from conceiving your li’l one to bringing her into the big, bad world, and nurturing her to a certain level of independence, your career tends to take a backseat, especially in the initial years of the child-rearing process. After this, restarting your career may seem like a daunting, rough ride. There is always a tug of war between focussing on work and ensuring the baby’s emotional, physical and developmental wellbeing. To add to it, the whole process puts a tremendous amount of pressure on mums, who are constantly trying to find the right balance between child-rearing and career prospects. Here are some ways to make an easy transition back to work, no matter your munchkin’s age and needs.
6 MONTHS - 1 YEAR
Tots from six months to one year require constant attention, since this is the most crucial part of their initial growth. They don’t understand that mum needs to resume work, and thus struggle to see why you’re not in their sight for multiple hours in the day. Therefore, before you resume work, focus on creating a schedule that works well for both you and baby, including their eating habits, sleeping patterns, playtime, etc. Try to figure out how to interweave the schedule so that you get to be a part of some of the regular, important aspects of her day.
