Instagram Tips For Photographers In 2021
Asian Photography|December 2021
In today’s mobile-driven world, even a small image can make a significant difference. “I don’t have time for another social network, and I don’t need Instagram,” other photographers frequently tell me. Despite this, they spend hours publishing on Facebook, 500px, and Flickr, where their work is seen by nearly no potential clients. Other photographers are essentially giving them followers, likes, and comments. Instagram can be valuable in ways you hadn’t considered before, and it shouldn’t take you long to establish a presence there.

Instagram Tips For Photographers In 2021
It’s not your portfolio

Consider using Instagram to showcase your latest work or as a daily journal. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had to show someone a photo from a recent shoot that I hadn’t yet posted to my portfolio on Instagram. You can not only publish images that you wouldn’t normally put in your portfolio, but you can also be more creative with the content - you don’t have to present a series of photos; a single photo would enough. It can even act as your business card. I’ve had to give my Instagram username before because I ran out of cards; the other person can quickly check out my feed and follow me.

Keep your bio neat and tidy

Visitors will notice your username and bio as soon as they land on your profile, so they’re crucial and should be carefully constructed. E-mail and location are two things that are frequently overlooked. Include your email address so that potential clients and colleagues know how to contact you (for work or partnerships), as well as your location so that they know where you’re located. Instagram simply refers to two items on your profile: your account username and your account name. When you conduct a search, only the content in those two fields will be considered (as well as for hashtags), to which I refer.
