Consciousness Demystified!

...It is then that 'the light of the body is resurrected into the Cosmic Light, the mind into Cosmic Consciousness, the human will into the Divine Will, the mortal life into the Eternal Life, and the joy of the soul into the Bliss of Spirit.’

Henry Margenau, a German-American Hphysicist attempted to highlight the mysterious functioning of electrons through an example of a lithium ion. A lithium ion is a charged atom, containing two electrons, both present in their respective orbits. However, when the third electron is added, the whole setup of the lithium ion gets aligned so perfectly that Margenau could not stop himself from describing the process in these words:

“Now we add a third electron. We know that it is not the electrostatic repulsion that keeps it from joining the other two. Nor do we know of any dynamic agency that is responsible for its disposition to avoid them. Somehow it “knows” that the other two are there, and seeks its own private orbit. The word “knows” is not wholly out of place because there is no physical agency that accounts for the known facts. One is almost tempted to say that some sort of ESP (Extra Sensory Perception) governs the behaviour of electrons.”

Admitting the fact that the world of material science is ignorant of the power behind this intelligent behaviour, Margenau did not hesitate in commenting further that “we do not know of any physical influence that affects the avoidance by one electron of an already occupied atomic state.”

Failing to understand or comprehend about the power, which so mysteriously coordinates the working inside a tiny atom, scientists are left completely bewildered. They wonder that a small electron is so amazingly tiny that 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 of them are needed in order to form net weight of one gram. Still, the significantly intelligent behaviour of such a small entity compels the scientists to admit that there is certainly something “quasi-mental, non-physical” about it.
