Raft of British races axed

Hope remains for the revival of Bourne CiCLE Festival

After a tumultuous start to the year the British domestic racing calendar took further blows last week as it emerged that three further races will most likely not run in 2020.

The Bourne CiCLE Classic, which included races for men and women, has been provisionally axed; the East Klondike Grand Prix, a British Cycling National Road Series race, has dropped its women’s race; while the elite and cat 1,2,3 level three-day Tour of Sussex has also said it will not run this year.

Their demise follows the near-loss of the historic Eddie Soens race and the financial struggles of the Lincoln Grand Prix. All race organisers of this week’s cancellations cited financial issues as key to their decision to not run the races this year.
