‘You get tired of the fight' says boss as Vitus Pro Cycling folds

British stalwart collapses due to lack of funding, reports Vern Pitt

Team manager Cherie Pridham has said she became exhausted by the process of keeping a UCI Continental team running after Vitus Pro Cycling announced last week it would fold at the end of the year.

The team Pridham has helmed since 2010 – then as Raleigh-GAC and now as Vitus Pro Cycling – has been a fixture of the pro scene for the last decade and has notched up a raft of domestic wins including the Tour of the Reservoir, Lincoln Grand Prix, and the Eddie Soens. It has also had UCIlevel wins at the Tour de Normandie.

Pridham said the pandemic had been the final straw in continuing the team as it struggled to get sponsors to cover its running costs.
