JONNY Hayes’ introduction to Sunday’s Glasgow derby might not have come until the 84th minute of the match, but his impact was a prominent one.
Apart from picking up Celtic’s only yellow card of the game, he also netted the side’s second goal to set the seal on an impressive win at Ibrox.
The Irishman surged forward as Neil Lennon’s side hit their opponents on the counter-attack, latching on to a through ball from fellow substitute, Olivier Ntcham, before slotting the ball home at the second attempt after his first effort had been saved by Allan McGregor.
He immediately headed over to celebrate in front of the 800 jubilant Celtic fans in the stadium, and was soon joined by his delighted team-mates.
“I’ve scored some good goals in big games, but I’ve never scored at Ibrox, so it’s another ground ticked off for me,” Hayes told the Celtic View after the game.
