As the new Scottish Premiership season kicks off this weekend, Scott Bain casts his eye over the opposition

In A League Of Our Own
THE Scottish Premiership season gets underway on Saturday with the now annual tradition of the league flag being unfurled at Paradise, but for the eight-in-a-row champions, the season is already up and running.

Celtic’s UEFA Champions League qualification campaign started over three weeks ago, and the Hoops have already played four competitive games in addition to their four friendly games during pre-season.

Those fixtures have helped ensure Neil Lennon’s side are well and truly up to speed for the start of what could be a historic season as Celtic look to secure a ninth consecutive league title.

Scott Bain is under no illusions at the momentous task he and his team-mates now embark upon, but for the Hoops goalkeeper, it’s business as usual and this Celtic side are in the business of collecting silverware.

“This season we’ll look to win everything, as we have done for the last three seasons,” he told the Celtic View in an exclusive interview. “A ninth league title would be significant. It’s the same as every season, though. We go in with the hope and belief that if we play to our standard, then all the accolades will come if we perform to how we should be.

“We’ve played in four really tough competitive European games, but other teams are playing in the League Cup group stages so they’ll be up to standard too. The games have been important for us.

‘We’ve come up against strong teams from different countries which will stand us in good stead, so we’ll be able to get off to a flyer.”
