DAMIEN Duff promised no stone has been left unturned in Celtic’s preparations for this week’s trip to Rome for their Europa League game against Lazio, and he believes if the Hoops continue to play at the top gear they will be hard to stop.
Celtic’s recent performances since the international break have been impressive, and the first-team coach is confident they can come away from Rome with a positive result.
The Hoops have convincingly won their last five fixtures, including the home tie against Lazio, scoring 19 goals in the process.
The 5-2 win over Hibernian in Saturday’s League Cup semi-final was a thoroughly entertaining 90 minutes for Celtic supporters and highlighted the form Neil Lennon’s side have hit.
“I thought the lads were unplayable at times and we’ve seen that throughout the season,” said Duff. “We were thoroughly deserved winners and we’re all looking forward to the final.
“Hibs held us to a 1-1 draw a couple of months ago, but you’re not going to be on top form for over 60 games a season, and in some games, you might have to figure out how to scrape a win.
“Having said that, at Easter Road, we deserved to win the game. We had chances and two penalty decisions turned down.
“That was a game we should have won and we didn’t, but we hit top gear on Saturday. When we hit top gear like that I don’t foresee many teams that can stop us.”
Celtic will be severely tested this Thursday night against a Lazio side who recorded an impressive result themselves last weekend with a 2-1 away win over AC Milan, their first victory over the Rossoneri in the San Siro in 30 years.
