New Bhoy delighted to sign for the champions and he’s aiming to play his part at Paradise

GREG Taylor was probably the most relieved man come the end of the transfer window. His move to Celtic, much talked about in the preceding months, had finally come to fruition and he was now, officially, a Celtic player.

Deadline day saw him given permission to leave the Scotland training camp and head through to Paradise to seal the deal, and while there was relief for the 21-year-old, there was also clearly delight too at having joined the Treble Treble winners.

And with Scotland’s two Euro 2020 qualifiers against Russia and Belgium now behind him, Taylor is looking forward to training with his new team-mates, which began at Lennoxtown today (Wednesday).

“When a club the size of Celtic shows an interest in you, you’re desperate to come and you’re just waiting and waiting on eventually getting told, that’s it done,” he said. “I’m elated and I can’t wait to be part of the club and the team.

“It’s a completely different experience and a completely different pressure, but it’s hopefully one that I can thrive on. I’m looking forward to having that pressure of pulling on the green and white Hoops and going on and trying to win games and trophies.”

And while Taylor will be stepping into a new environment, he’ll be welcomed by some familiar faces in the shape of Celtic’s Scotland contingent, with Callum McGregor, James Forrest and Ryan Christie all having been part of Steve Clarke’s most recent international squad.
