Babar Azam To Lead Flop XI Of World Cup 2023, Week 1

The first week of the 2023 ICC ODI World Cup is behind us. After action in the opening week, Sri Lanka, Netherlands, and Afghanistan were in the bottom three, with two losses from two games. Australia were seventh with one loss from one match against India. Bangladesh were ahead of them in sixth spot, with one victory and one defeat. Now, if we look at the top half of the points table, New Zealand, India, and Pakistan had four points each, with two wins from as many games. However, the Kiwis were placed first in the points table due to their superior net run rate (+1.958). India were second with (+1.500) and Pakistan third (+0.927). South Africa began their World Cup campaign with a 102-run win over Sri Lanka. They were fourth after week 1, while England were fifth with one win and one defeat. On that note, here’s the flop XI after the first week of the 2023 World Cup.

OPENERS: MITCHELL MARSH, KUSAL PERERA

Australia’s Mitchell Marsh and Sri Lanka’s Kusal Perera will open the innings for the flop XI of the week. Marsh was dismissed for a duck against India, brilliantly caught at slip by Virat Kohli as he fended at a delivery from Jasprit Bumrah.
