INDIA'S UNWANTED RECORDS ON SOUTH AFRICAN SOIL IN TEST CRICKET
The Indian cricket team will be playing three Test matches against South Africa, starting December 26 in Centurion. The Test series will be part of the ICC World Test Championship 2021-23 cycle. Notably, India are yet to win a Test series in South Africa, visiting the nation seven times so far. India last toured SA in 2018 and suffered a 2-1 loss. Virat Kohli-led Team India, who won twice in Australia in recent years and also gained a 2-1 lead in the incomplete 5-Test series in England earlier this year, will be keen to script history when they take on the Proteas. Team India hasn’t quite cracked the code in SA, and on the same note, we present the unwanted records held by the side.

CONCEDING THE HIGHEST TOTAL

In the 2010 tour, India went on to concede a mammoth 620 runs against SA in Centurion. SA managed 620/4d in their first innings after bowling India out for just 136 in the first innings. India were asked to follow on and managed 459 in the second, losing the Test by an innings and 25 runs. SA’s 620/4d is the best score between the two sides in Test matches on Proteas soil.

ALLOWING SA TO POST 5 FIFTY-PLUS SCORES IN AN INNINGS
