The 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is all set to get underway with the opening clash between defending champions Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore on April 9. The last season of IPL saw one of the most tightly contested playoff races in the tournament’s history, with just 2 points separating the fourth-placed RCB and the bottom-placed RR. As a result, all eight franchises left no stone unturned in strengthening their squad in the IPL 2021 auction. While Royals signed South Africa all-rounder Chris Morris at Rs 16.25 crore – the most expensive buy in the IPL history, the Bangalore-based franchise spend a massive amount of Rs 14.25 crore on Glenn Maxwell.
