Tyldesley was commentating for ITV in Sofia two weeks ago when a handful of England players were subjected to racist abuse during a European Championship qualifying match against Bulgaria.
He viewed the Three Lions’ handling of the issue – reporting discriminatory chants to match officials and halting the game – as a “step forward”.
And Tyldesley, formerly lead Everton commentator for Radio City, insisted the “absolutely outstanding” banner unfurled at Goodison Park in support of Kean last month “sent a fantastic message”.
Teenager Kean was the target of racist chants when playing for former club Juventus last season.
“The banner unfurled for Moise Kean here was absolutely outstanding,” said Tyldesley.
“It sent a fantastic message to a very young man, away from home in a strange environment trying to make his way in the world.
