In 1922, they offered a luminous Glow Fish that glowed in the dark. Advertised as the trapper&rsquo;s first choice over the Tin Fish, it remained on the market thru 1993. In 1918, Taylor began selling what they first called the Victory Bait Box and later renamed the Sure Catch Bait Box. The 1/4-inch-deep, two-piece container was designed to hold bait or lure and also clamped onto a trap pan. It was on the market through 1958.Alexander Berg, president of Hill Bros. Fur Co., of St. Louis, was awarded a patent on October 28, 1919, for a tin fish with four flukes (fold-down tabs) and a hole in the center with a split rivet that loosely held it on the trap pan. The loose connection and flukes were designed to let this tin fish vibrate or rotate in a flowing&nbsp;stream. Their 1919 catalog introduced it as the Hill Bros. Movable Fish Decoy.Hill Bros. also offered a luminous model that required a hole in the center of the trap pan to accept an attaching rivet, which may explain why traps from that era are often found with a home-made hole drilled in the pan.Fouke Fur Company, also of St. Louis, listed a Catch-All Radiant Fish in their 1924 catalog, with Fouke-St. Louis embossed on it. Fouke Fur also made a plain Tin Fish Water Set. By 1928 Fouke had merged with Funsten, which then listed two tin fish: the Glow Fish and the Tin Fish.Herskovits Fur Co., of New York, called their version the Gets-em Tin Fish Water Set. They first offered it in their 1924 catalog, in both Tin and a Silver Fish version with a luminous coating that made it shine in moonlight. The Tin version had their name embossed on it.As far as collector value, a common F.C. Taylor tin fish typically fetches $10 in good collector condition. The Glow Fish and Craw Fish sell for as much as $50, and the rarer Herskovits, Hill Bros., and Fouke Fur with name embossed fetch up to $100. A Victory Bait Box, also quite rare, typically brings around $100.
