PULL: Hey Alexander, big huge congratulations on winning the National #1 Title! How does it feel to be the Champion?

ALEXANDER: It felt so exciting to win this, especially given the really tough competition.

PULL: Having a solid season all year long, knowing you were a major contender for the top spot, did that give you any added pressure when you rolled into Chilliwack for the Canadian Grands?

ALEXANDER: No, I didn’t even know- my parents kept it from me. The morning of Canadian Grands I actually had a terrible upset stomach and my mom took me back to the hotel and gave me Pepto Bismol and thankfully that worked quickly. I had to pull out of the cruiser main event, but felt ready to go for the 20”. When my teammate, Shylo Orchard, won the women’s cruiser title and the Go Pro. I asked my Mom how I could win a Go Pro, too and this was when she told me I was actually in the running for the National title. I was determined to win, but knew it was going to be tough as my biggest competitors (W1, W2, W3) were also in the gate.

When you roll into the local Quiktrip and one of Tucson’s finest looks at your shirt and asks if you know Corben Sharrah, you can only be in one city in America. Often coined as the loudest city in BMX, it doesn’t matter if there is a single fan or a gaggle of Tucsonans, they know how to bring the energy.

With all of the uncertainty in event planning this year, it was not a huge surprise that the DK Bicycles North East Gold Cup Finals shifted locations somewhat last minute. We were very lucky to have it and at a great location, Akron BMX in Akron, Ohio. The Big Red Truck was last here for the 2018 North East Gold Cup Finals, and the track is located in a pretty incredible location.
