BetVictor’s Charlie McCann takes a look at the price flows for Cheltenham Festival
The Festival Championship races are beginning to take shape for the Cheltenham Festival in March although Douvan’s injury and Altior’s continued absence means the Champion Chase picture is a notable exception.
Willoughby Court landed the Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle for Ben Pauling and Britain last season after Irish raiders – including the brilliant Faugheen in 2014 – had won the three previous renewals.
The market for this season’s race is headed by Gordon Elliot’s unbeaten Samcro who has won his six career starts by an aggregate margin of 55 lengths and has been described by many connected to the horse as a future Gold Cup winner.
The gelding is obviously very good but the form of his latest Navan Grade 3 success has taken a few knocks, he has yet to race on ground quicker than good to yielding and at 2/1 with BetVictor he must be overlooked at those odds.
