Will Allen survive?

What’s it going to take for Washington Redskins owner Dan Snyder to fire president Bruce Allen?

Will Allen survive?

Is it not enough the Redskins are among the worst teams in the NFL again for the third time under Allen? Or the team may lose 100 games in his decade of stewardship? Even home crowds of 12,000 plus visiting supporters over recent years haven’t been enough to embarrass Snyder into change.

Is there nothing that can break this curse upon the land? That the son of George Allen, who led the franchise out of its generational maladroitness, is now undoing everything the elder Allen created without penalty?

Snyder is reportedly evaluating Allen and the front office’s future. No matter the owner vetoed them by drafting quarterback Dwayne Haskins among other things. Snyder should accept even partial blame of a massive mess. But Snyder remaining blind to Allen’s shortcomings is amazing.

• The Trent Williams fiasco this season is still a fresh wound. Allen grossly underestimated Williams’ willingness to forgo $12 million as a holdout and didn’t even trade him before the deadline. Now Williams has only one year left on his contract and worth far less in a deal.

• Kirk Cousins departed after a double franchise tag that cost the team $44 million. Allen failed to make a deal or trade and has since spent a cap busting amount on two replacements.
