Run With It 24
TRAIL|Issue 36
It's the perfect example of a good idea spreading, growing, and helping! MIKE TREDWAY explains how Run with It 24 started as a personal challenge and ended up raising over R65k for two local charities.
Run With It 24

This started out as a group of trail runners raising awareness for the sacrifices of our medical professionals to curb the spread of COVID-19. We also wanted to keep active, stay home, and flatten the curve.

The plan was to run 1km or 2km, on the hour, every hour for 12 or 24 hours.

Round One

In the first round on 3 and 4 April, we had 18 runners and accumulated a total of 550km.

There was a lot of external interest shown by the media and other runners, and so we decided that this could be an platform to raise funds for charity.

Round Two

We selected Voices of Pietermaritzburg Angels and The Child Welfare Society of PMB as beneficiaries for our fundraising efforts. Both charities help people in need with food packages, clothing, nappies, and more.

Round Two (10-11 April) featured over 70 runners, some as far away as New Zealand and Sweden, reaching over 1,900km combined plus over 200km cycling.
