REFLECTION has its benefits but tunnel vision clearly appears to be the ideal policy for James Weighell and Durham.
The 2017 t20 Blast campaign was one to forget for the men from Emirates Riverside as the Jets finished rock bottom of the North Group with just three wins to show for their efforts.
However, the early signs this summer point to something of a sea-change in the north east, with the Jets second in the table after successive victories over Birmingham, Notts and Worcestershire.
Why bother dwelling on the past? Weighell is happy for Durham to roll with it.
“I think we were still looking for our first point at this time last year, so it’s been much more fun and we’ve been doing really well,” said the 24-year-old. “We’ve flown apart from two disappointing results against Yorkshire. We’ve had four pretty convincing wins, we’re full of confidence at the minute, and everything seems to be going our way. It’s a strange one, really. This year, we’ve managed to get up and going.
“We had a really tough time in the opening game against Yorkshire and that sort of put doubts in people’s minds that it was going to be another tough year but we went to Leicester the day after and managed to get a pretty comfortable win.
