Three-Headed Problem
The Giant Insider|October 15, 2017

Jerry Reese gambled and lost. Ben McAdoo came up small at the chalkboard. Odell Beckham Jr., arrived with a bum ankle and didn’t manage a full run until the Giants were 0-2.

Three-Headed Problem

And now the Giants, winless entering October, are all but out of the football season, their unofficial departure date being Sept. 24 in Philadelphia.

Stuff happens fast in this league. The margin for error is slimmer than Beckham’s benefit of the doubt with officials. You take too long getting off the runway and you are grounded for at least a year.

The Giants brought a lot of promise into the season. Many of us, certainly yours truly, believed they deserved every last word of their inclusion in the Super Bowl discussion.

But we didn’t know what Reese is paid to know. We didn’t know the offensive line was going to be as bad as it was last season. We didn’t know McAdoo would fall short again as a supposed ‘offensive guru,’ fulfilling only the ‘offensive’ part of the description. We didn’t know Beckham would come into the season on a sprained ankle that might have been healthy if not for running to the locker room after sustaining the injury on Aug. 21 at Cleveland.
