Exclusive Interview With Our England International Eric Dier, Who Insists the Resilience and Determination Within the Squad Will Carry Us a Long Way in the Coming Months...

Never Say Dier

Eric Dier believes our midweek win over Swansea City will further enhance the confidence flowing through the squad as we approach the final few weeks of the 2016-17 season.

The dramatic late, late comeback at the Liberty Stadium on Wednesday evening came as much as a surprise to Eric as it did to most people of a Spurs persuasion, after we trailed 1-0 to the Swans as the game entered the 88th minute.

It seemed that our seven game unbeaten run in all competitions was about to come to an end, not to mention our Premier League title challenge as Chelsea’s lead at the top was about to be extended back to 10 points with just eight games left to play.

But as late twists go, this was right up there with the best of them! Dele Alli looked to have salvaged a point when he tucked home at the far post with just two minutes of normal time remaining to deflate the home side, who had dug deep and doggedly tried to hold on to their one-goal advantage.

However, with a whopping seven minutes of added time still to be played, our never-say-die attitude meant we weren’t about to settle for a point. In the 91st minute, Vincent Janssen set up Heung-Min Son to bundle the ball past Lukasz Fabianski in the Swansea goal and spark wild celebrations in the away end and also in the Spurs dugout.

Then, Christian Eriksen delivered the knockout blow, coolly converting from the edge of the area for our third goal in six crazy minutes to set another Premier League record – as we became the first team in the competition’s 24-year history to win a game by two clear goals having been losing in the 88th minute!
