Ideally, it will feature quarterback Dwayne Haskins playing 16 games with a 2 to 1 touchdown to turnover ratio, receiver Terry McLaurin well over 1,000 yards and in the end zone 10 times along with a strong, balanced running game with plenty of depth.
And if they could find a tight end that they could depend on, that would be terrific. Also, a left side of the offensive line while developing the future on the right side.
Whatever they look like and however it turns out – Washington needs to be a lot better than they were last year.
That won’t be hard. They were largely dreadful.
Washington’s per game yard average was more than 73 yards below the NFL average. They were more than a half yard per play behind the league.
You get the picture. They were significantly lower than the combined NFL average in almost every major statistical category and averaged a touchdown less (6.2 points per game) per game.
It was a yuck-fest.
Things could never be that bad again, right? It’s hard to imagine but it would also be surprising if they even got back to the .500 mark across the board in these glaring deficiencies.
