“Small children and slapstick go together like a coyote and a cliff”

Phogs is possibly the greatest game ever made, provided your criteria for the greatest game is ‘suitable for playing with a five-year-old’. I’ve been playing PC games with my daughter since she was two, but thus far it’s mostly been me playing while she sits on my knee.

Now that she’s five, she’s begun to want to play the games herself, which is good because the blood supply to my lower leg has been sorely diminished of late. Yet while tons of games are technically suitable for ages 3+, that rating only applies to themes and content. It doesn’t apply to things like ‘attention span’ or ‘hand-eye coordination, both of which are still developing at my daughter’s age.
