Exceling at isolated and up-close vocal reproduction, the AT2040 is the latest addition to Audio-Technica’s microphone portfolio. It is a hyper-cardioid dynamic podcast microphone which is capable of reproducing high-quality audio and is reasonably priced. Featuring a rugged all-metal design, the AT2040 strips off unwanted room noise from the reproduced audio through its hyper-cardioid polar pattern and specially-designed shock mount which attenuates vibration from a boom arm or mic stand. The AT2040 mic’s multistage windscreen uses a non-woven filter with foam mesh to provide a high-quality pop filtering. The microphone’s XLR output is compatible with a conventional analogue mic input, and thus, it can be used with devices ranging from USB audio interfaces to professional mixing consoles. Along with a soft protective pouch, the mic comes with a pivoting stand mount and a 5/8-inch-27 to 3/8-inch16 threaded adapter.
