&#8377;5,999, oneNoise-cancellation seems to be making its presence felt even in affordable earbuds, and the OnePlus Buds Z2 is the latest to join this space. We reviewed the OnePlus Buds Pro in November, and this device retains some of the goodies of the Pro version and it doesn&#39;t feel like too much of a compromise if you choose this over the Pro.The OnePlus Buds Z2 comes enclosed in a longish oval shaped case which sports a glossy finish. The buds have the familiar long stem design with an in-canal tip. As usual, OnePlus bundles three sizes of ear tips and the buds fit securely in the ears without any slack. In fact, perfect fit was what we found missing in the Buds Pro, and we are quite glad to see that it has been addressed well. The buds are available in Obsidian Black and Pearl White colours. The device offers a flat touch area, which we found quite responsive. OnePlus mentions that the Buds Z2 is lighter and 15 percent shorter than the OnePlus Buds Z. The buds carry an IP55 rating for water and sweat resistance along with a hydrophobic nanocoating. The charging case is IPX4-rated for splash resistance.Like other OnePlus buds, this one also performs best while paired with OnePlus smartphones using Google Fast Pair, giving access to Dolby Atmos and customisations including a custom equaliser from within the Bluetooth connection screen itself. For other devices, you can use the Hey Melody companion app for earbud customisation options such as touch controls, noise cancellation etc. Noise control options include two levels of noise cancellation along with Off, and Transparency. If you decide to pair the device with an iPhone, you are not likely to miss much of the advanced functions since the phone itself provides extensive equaliser options to play around. The buds offer reverberating bass with competent highs and enjoyable mids, though the separation is not as great as in the Pro version. The Buds Z2 uses the same 11 mm dynamic driver from the Buds Pro. Three microphones are used to detect and analyse ambient sound. The Buds Z2 offers a credible noise cancellation, and combined with the tight fit, it blocks most noise at the highest level of cancellation.As mentioned earlier, pairing with OnePlus smartphones provide Dolby Atmos support. You can choose between four environmental profiles or four scenario profiles. There are three preset equaliser modes Balanced, Warm and Detailed, and also a custom equaliser. The device supports only SBC and AAC formats.The OnePlus Buds Z2 offers up to 5 hours of listening time on a single charge with ANC, while the case holds around four additional charges. The buds offer fast charging support and a 10-minute charging is believed to provide 5 hours of listening time.
