All In Caravanning, Beijing
On the other side of the globe there is a nation of people quite different from South Africans… and there are a lot of them.
But there seems to be one thing we have in common: Camping!
Believe it or not, in China – the worlds most populated country, with 1.4 billion people – there is a growing demand for the outdoor lifestyle.
Although the market is quite small at the moment, there exists a huge potential for the leisure industry.
It’s always interesting to visit different countries and to experience, and really sense, that what we think is normal, is not normal to everybody.
I am fortunate that my participation in the local leisure market compels me to travel to different countries.
From visiting Europe, doing research and purchasing cutting-edge leisure vehicle equipment and styles, to exporting our products to Australia, Motorhome-World has allowed me to sample the potential of these countries.
Our most recent global expansion is to China – the Loncen Caravan Company has ordered two Discoverer 4x4 Xtremes, designed and developed to specially suit this market.
In order to assist in launching the vehicles and to grow the relationship between our industry-leading companies, I travelled to the All In Caravanning Show in Beijing, where Loncen had a stand.
The area that the exhibition was being held at was in the southern part of Beijing, a type of economic development zone for the city.
As this was my first time travelling to this part of the world I did have expectations. These lay somewhere between the look, feel and smell of Thailand and the order of Australia.
