24 Hours In Guwahati

6:00 am WITNESS THE RISING SUN FROM THE BRAHMAPUTRA’S SHORE

When in the land blessed by the majestic river, begin the day by heading to the banks of the River Brahmaputra to see a surreal sunrise. The chirping of birds, the calm of the river, and the transforming hues of the sky create a spectacle that will let you discover a new zest for life.

8:00 am SOAK UP THE SPIRITUALITY AT THE KAMAKHYA TEMPLE

One of the most revered spiritual icons in India, the Kamakhya Temple sits atop the Nilachal Hills, and is one of the 51 shakti peethas of the Goddess Durga. A hub for those interested in the tradition of tantra, the temple is also the only one in the world where female genitalia is worshipped. Spirituality aside, the panoramic view of the city from the top is another reason to visit the Kamakhya Temple.

10:00 am BREAKFAST AT MOCHA RESTAURANT

Before you try to wrap your taste buds around the splendours of Assamese cuisine, acclimatise at Mocha (mocha. co.in) with a menu of more familiar global fare. With dishes like pao sliders and Keema Choutala on offer, your appetite will be more adequately satiated. Go easy, though, as the delights of an Assamese lunch await.

11:00 am GET A DOSE OF CULTURE AT THE ASSAM STATE MUSEUM
