Reunited for 30 years, Berlin celebrates distinct local individuality.

All Together Now

THIS YEAR, BERLIN celebrates the 30th anniversary of the fall of the infamous Berlin Wall. Reunited, Berlin’s 12 boroughs each boast distinct neighborhoods. Although they border each other, CharlottenburgWilmersdorf and Mitte (my hands-down favorites), divided by the Wall for so long, even now seem worlds apart.

Traditional and sophisticated, CharlottenburgWilmersdorf is located in the heart of former West Berlin — now called City West. A district of old villas and tree-lined streets, it also hosts the famous Tiergarten (zoo). Visit the Baroque Charlottenburg Palace to see the crown jewels and royal silver.
