Imagine digging your toes into grains of sand on a secluded tropical beach, the stress of the past year far behind you. When the time is right, it’s hard to picture better sand to sink into than the soft golden shores of Sea Gypsy Village Resort & Dive Base, a tropical eco-retreat on Malaysia’s Pulau Sibu, only three hours from Singapore by road.
THE SUSTAINABLE WAY
Designed to live in environmental harmony with the surrounding marine park, Sea Gypsy Village Resort & Dive Base invites visitors to enjoy the tropics in a cleaner, greener way, with the eco-resort dedicated to nurturing both the land and ocean since its inception.
The resort’s 28 authentic Malay-style chalets have been constructed using traditional methods and materials, including palm fronds and wood. The sustainability efforts of the Sea Gypsy team don’t stop there, with an active recycling program, tree planting projects and a self-sustaining artificial reef also under their belt. Then there’s the on-site forge built from recycled metals, the homemade charcoal initiative (using wood that has either fallen down, been pruned or had to come down due to health) and the collection of board games and play equipment constructed in-house.
