Insult comedy requires a different type of audience and colleague interaction. If nothing else, it’s difficult to add much shading to a persona when most of your act involves undercutting others …

Roy Haylock: Reactions to it depend on the individual. Funny is funny. Your truth is in what you relate to; in the things that you know and understand. I don’t think what I do as Bianca will seem insane to anyone who doesn’t want to be bothered. If it’s not your scene, stay home.

I don’t get much follow-up. I’m not bombarded by people or stopped in the streets. I have a normal apartment, where I live with my dogs – don’t mind me!

You’re an independent operator with a number of outlets for your creativity: stand-up, drag, TV series, YouTube channels, even a feature film. How does this compare to what passes for a ‘traditional’ career curve in comedy? Or in drag, for that matter?
