Theme parks and integrated resorts are crafting fresh, exhilarating, action-packed experiences for families this year. This is where you should be on your next family holiday.
HONG KONG DISNEYLAND
After the Iron Man Experience, the second Marvel ride exclusive to Hong Kong Disneyland features the characters of Ant-Man and The Wasp from the popular comic series. The yet-to-be-named attraction is set for a launch later this year, replacing the Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters. Visitors should look forward to futuristic designs and laser-powered weapons to fight enemies that will appear at the sharp bends of this ride. The attraction is part of a massive, new Marvel themed area planned for a 2023 launch. hongkongdisneyland.com
MARINA BAY SANDS, SINGAPORE
The indoor ice skating rink at Marina Bay Sands has given way to the Digital Light Canvas, an interactive digital light installation. The 14-metre-tall LED sculpture is suspended six metres above ground, above an interactive LED floor that reacts to movements. It hosts four dedicated ‘show modes’, including Nature’s Rhythm, where you watch birds fly through the installation above, while thousands of fish swim beneath your feet. Besides these spectacular daily shows, visitors can send customised messages on to the LED floor, which will be displayed along with a burst of fireworks in the sculpture above. marinabaysands.com
DISNEY’S HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS, FLORIDA
Relive the magic from the 1991 film, Toy Story, when the exciting new attraction, Toy Story Land, is launched on June 30. Popular characters from the film—Woody, Buzz Lightyear and Jessie—will be part of a larger-than-life setting resembling Andy’s backyard. Kids will love riding Slinky Dog Dash, a thrilling rollercoaster; or they can try the Alien Swirling Saucers and head out for an interstellar romp on a toy rocket. While you’re here, take your kids for lunch at Woody’s Lunchbox. disneyworld.disney.go.com
