From Nov. 5-7, veterans and their families can attend The HeroZona National Veteran Summit, held at Sheraton Crescent Hotel and Talking Stick Resort Arena. Events include executive roundtables, an employment summit, a job fair, workshops, and Bridge Forum. (www.herozonasummit.com)
The Town of Carefree hosts several events beginning the weekend prior, including a Charity 3 Miler that starts at Carefree Town Hall at 9 am on Nov. 9. All ages and abilities are welcome— as are pets—to walk or run either 1 or 3 miles around the Carefree Desert Gardens and downtown Carefree. Proceeds from this event benefit Helping Hands for Freedom and other veterans charities. (www.ATTVeterans.org/race)

Designers launch and brand clothing lines, fashion shows are a regular occurrence, and though ip ops are a closet staple for locals, so are the latest fashions. is fall, purple reigns as a hue, and clothes with cinched waists are in. Join in on the “Hottest Race on Earth,” Scottsdale’s Beat the Heat, which winds through the grounds of WestWorld of Scottsdale. The race begins at 2:47 p.m., the time of day in 1990 when thermometers in the metro Phoenix area reached 122 degrees on June 26.
