I nearly died just weeks after giving birth…
It was my first pregnancy, and I’d done lots of research to prepare myself.
But then scans showed the baby wasn’t growing as well as he should. So doctors planned a Caesarean.
On 13 October 2015, at 38 weeks, I had 5lb 8oz Alex.
My husband Sam, 31, and I were delighted.
‘You might need a few days to recover,’ a doctor said.
But the next day I felt fine, and was walking about.
So as I’d had a Caesarean, I was sent home with a week’s worth of blood-thinning meds.
Back home, I was rushed off my feet looking after Alex.
Then, on 31 October, I had cramp in my left buttock.
I didn’t think too much of it, but over the next few days, it didn’t go.
‘I’ll have an early night,’ I told Sam. I put on the electric blanket, hoping the heat would help ease the pain.
