Many of us have spent our quarantine days makeup-less—aside from putting on a bit of gloss or mascara for Zoom calls. And with wearing a mask now part of the new normal, this, combined with experiencing the refreshing break from putting on makeup daily, the types of cosmetics we choose is shifting. “We’ll be focusing more on skincare since there’s not really a point to doing a full face,” says Sandra Yang, a Toronto-based hair and makeup artist with more than 15 years of experience in the industry. She shares her top seven must-haves to toss in your post-pandemic beauty bag.
Switch to a facial oil
“With a mask, your skin is trapped underneath fabric, you’re sweating, and you can break out and bruise from it,” says Yang, who says her own skin has changed so much since turning 40 last year. “I like facial oils as they can work on dry, combination, and oily skin. Aesop Fabulous Face Oil soaks in quickly and isn’t heavy feeling or greasy.”
