Is your client all excited about her upcoming holiday? Travel can be tough on her skin if she does not take adequate care.
Is your client headed to the beach or the mountains for a vacation? In the excitement of packing and planning, she might forget that climatic changes can adversely affect the skin. Even when on holiday, one cannot take a vacation from one’s skincare regimen. So, tweaking the routine to suit the climate of the destination is a must.
Dr Sangeeta Velaskar, Vice President and Head, Medical Services and R&D, Kaya Limited, says, “One must carry the right kind of products—non-greasy for hot weather, and rich and moisturising products for cold weather. One thing you cannot forget is sunscreen.”
When your client is travelling, there will be late nights, parties, alcohol, irregular diets, busy schedules and changing weather. If proper care is not taken, it can undo all the hard work both of you have put into maintaining her skin.
WHEN IN THE AIR
It all starts before it even begins. What damages the skin the most during vacations is the dry, arid, re-circulated air in flights. Even if it is a short flight, one steps out of the plane with visibly duller skin. But there are ways to protect the skin and step out looking fresh.
If your client is on a long flight, ask her to take off her makeup as soon as she starts the journey. She could carry makeup removing wipes, instead of bottles of a remover. Wipes are easier to use and they do not count as liquid while travelling on a flight.
Next, ask her to spray a face mist all over her face. This will add hydration and will form a protective barrier against the dry air in the cabin. She could also put on a mask at this stage, or apply a moisturiser or night cream. Do not forget sunscreen, because at higher altitudes, one is vulnerable to the harmful effects of UV rays.
