WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO GET INTO HAIR STYLING?
My inspiration has always been my mom. She owned a small hair salon while we were growing up. Very often after school, we would hang around the salon, watching her cut, colour, and style; and those memories of my mom working in her salon, were my earliest impressions of hairdressing. That has greatly influenced and inspired me to enter the industry.
WHAT WAS YOUR JOURNEY LIKE? TELL US ONE OF YOUR EARLIEST STYLING MEMORIES.
It has been a fantastic adventure with lots of learning and milestones. In fact, one of my earliest memories has been playing dress-up with my sister, and styling her hair when we were kids. It’s been a wonderfully-fulfilling experience.
DID YOU HAVE ANY ‘RACHEL HAIRCUT OR HAIRSTYLING’ MOMENTS WHERE A MISTAKE ACTUALLY TURNED OUT TO BE A TREND?
In my experience, hairstyling has always been a very personal one. After all, it is what teaches you what works and what doesn’t, and helps you grow as a stylist. In fact, I believe that you can’t make a wrong right, without those styling mistakes. After all, sometimes these mistakes can turn into discoveries. I remember this one time when we turned an unbalanced bob, into an asymmetrical bob cut, and it just worked. So yes, there are definitely styling faux pas that turn out great in the end.
