Perhaps blondes have more fun, but who can resist the sultry allure of the brunette? From Kendall Jenner and Eva Mendes to Liz Taylor and Audrey Hepburn, the deep tones of bronzed locks have their own magnetic charm.

'Gentlemen prefer blondes’, so goes the old adage suggesting that a girl with dark hair somehow takes second place to their lighter-haired cousins. But is this true? In 2011 Badoo ran a survey of 2,000 UK males which suggested a very different result. 33.1% replied that they preferred women with brown hair with 28.6% favouring black hair, meaning that 61.7% of men actually preferred women with deeper tresses. Only 29.5% reported a pension for the lighter. With similar results being recorded in France, Spain and Italy, where black manes were the most favoured, it seems that the blonde bombshell preference is a myth.
