As we celebrate International Women’s Day this year, it’s time to acknowledge the contribution and dedication of those women who ventured into the world of hairdressing and made a name for themselves as successful entrepreneurs by kickstarting their own chain of salons. To celebrate the spirit of the empowered woman of today, SUKRITI SHAHI spoke to some go-getter hairstylists who have carved a befitting niche for themselves in the industry…

A journey, a challenge...

Adhuna Bhabani (AB) / Avan Contractor (AC): From opening our first business together to having over 17 salons across the country, from our first Bollywood hairstyling debut to the 50 plus films that have followed thereafter, everything has been a milestone! The setting up of our academy has been one of our biggest milestones, crucial to helping us expand and enabling us to achieve the goals that we had set for ourselves.

But the journey isn’t as simple as it sounds. BBLUNT’s biggest and most challenging dream was to create a line of products for Indian hair. Our partnership with Godrej helped us make that dream a possibility. We needed to partner with someone with experience in areas where we didn’t have any; mainly experts in the field of product development and retail. Today, our product ranges cater to every hair type, texture and scalp-specific need, covering care and styling for both men and women.

The vision is to grow the company to its maximum potential, which includes the growth of individual team members, franchises, salons and academies. In five years, we will perhaps see ourselves with more salons, a larger product range (we’re already working on that so watch this space) and of course, go global.
