To ring in the World Environment Day this year, we bring you eco-beauty stories of people for whom everyday is environment day. Committed to being ambassadors of clean beauty, they have developed products that are sustainable, resonate with nature and contribute to your overall wellbeing. Read more and connect with nature.
How and why did you start this brand?
Neemli Naturals was started initially as an experiment from our farmhouse where we created cold processed soaps, with scrubs and face masks. The idea was to be as close to nature as possible. We did a season at the Goa flea market, then a whole bunch of other exhibitions and markets across the country. The response was beyond amazing and we knew we had something that resonated with people. The next step was to get official. We documented and formulated our recipes and officially launched the brand Neemli Naturals last year in June. Even a name like Neemli was hotly contested amongst all my team members who wanted a hip or western name but I was adamant on this name. Honestly, I don’t think the brand could have been called anything else anymore.
Tell us about the product range.
Most of our products cater to facial care ranging from creams, serums, oils, lip care, etc. We do have cold processed handmade soaps that cure for a month before we pack and sell them along with these body scrubs, body oils, hair oils, etc. The Hyaluronic & Vitamin C Serum is our top selling product with the Hibiscus & Saffron Night Cream, Argan and Rose Day, Caffeine and Cucumber Night Under Eye Cream, Rose and Patchouli Facial Toner and French Pink & Multani Clay Soap selling in that order.
What makes these products natural and eco-friendly?
We have stuck to our guns and insisted in using glass packaging that is 100 per cent recyclable, our boxes are made from recycled paper and our products are vegan, cruelty free and handmade. We have made sure ingredients such as squalane are derived from olives rather than shark liver. The same goes with the hyaluronic acid which is derived from sweet potato instead of being animal based. Furthermore, we have also ensured to get organic certified ingredients and eco-certified preservatives where needed.
