Are your daily habits risking your reproductive and sexual wellbeing? Read on to make sure you stay safe, happy and healthy down below
Some things go without saying – wearing natural fibres next to your skin, not washing with harsh or strongly perfumed soaps and changing out of wet clothing as soon as possible – but what else can you do to keep your vagina happy and healthy? With recent headlines reporting on the dangers of vaginal meshes (fitted to help strengthen a weakened pelvic floor); and inserting parsley into your vagina (to bring on your period), we show you seven fail-safe ways to look after your lady parts.
1 Remember to shower or change your underwear after going for a run. Your thighs rub together 160 or more times a minute when you’re running, making your crotch area warm and sweaty. Skip the shower and you’ll create a hotbed of bacterial or fungal growth, leading to itching and infection. Wear sweat-wicking running shorts or tights, which draw perspiration away from your body and allow it to evaporate on the fabric’s outer surface, and consider anti-bacterial fabrics. Not only more comfortable to run in, they’ll reduce your chance of infection, too.
