Celebrities share fond memories of Bra Hugh who lost his battle against prostate cancer
HUGH Masekela(78), a giant of South African music who gave soundtracks to many generations, passed on recently after a brave fight with prostate cancer.
A LEGEND IS LOST
The news of his death touched everyone, including South African celebrities such as Cassper Nyovest, Dineo Ranaka and T’bo Touch who shared their fondest memories of the legend. Even American actor, Samuel L Jackson, posted a message on Twitter about the late musician.
Sonti Mndebele, who was a close friend to Bra Hugh, as he was affectionately known, says, “My friendship with Hugh started in 1984 in London. He asked me to become one of his back-up singers when he was touring the UK. He was a funny man and was a mentor and a brother to me.”
