IT’S that time of the year when companies are preparing to wrap up for the year and yearend parties are scheduled to celebrate the hard work employees put in throughout the year. Usually after year-end functions, there’s always a story doing the rounds about a colleague who got out of order.

Year-end parties are important to attend because it is a time to get to know your colleagues better and let them get to know you better too.

According to Thuli Bottmon, a senior counselling social worker, “year-end functions create a sense of belonging. If you do not attend the event, you could be interpreted as unsociable and not willing to join in and engage with your colleagues.”
