Skeem Saam actress Shoki Sebotsane says she still believes in love despite suffering emotional and physical abuse at the hands of her husband
THE 40-year-old mother of two is still recovering from both physical and emotional scars months after her husband and fellow actor, Sello Sebotsane, beat her to a pulp in front of their two children. Shoki made headlines when she revealed the pain she had experienced for years during her marriage to Sello. The two are currently separated and undergoing divorce.
Shoki says she will never go back to him even if he was the last man on earth. She first opened a case of assault in 2009 after Sello had allegedly beaten her to a pulp. The abuse didn’t stop there. In another incident which led to Shoki taking action, Sello allegedly sat on her lap and started choking her in the early hours of the morning. She eventually managed to escape and has since obtained a protection order against him. Sello will appear in court for assault charges later this month.
SHOKI STILL BELIEVES IN LOVE
The actress, who still chokes up because of the trauma inflicted on her life by her violent marriage, says she believes that not every man is like Sello and there are still good men out there who are capable of loving.
The practising sangoma says she still shudders when she thinks about what she went through and is proud that she gathered up the courage to walk out of her abusive marriage.
