CORO SALLY'S PRIDE: My girl's the star of Bridgerton

When actress Phoebe Dynevor sat down with her mum Sally to watch Bridgerton, the period drama she stars in, she made sure she was in charge of the remote control. “I had to sit there and fast forward on high alert,” reveals Phoebe.

That’s because the hit Netflix show includes lots of rather steamy sex scenes between Phoebe’s character Daphne Bridgerton and the dashing Simon, Duke of Hastings, played by Regé-Jean Page.

Not that Sally is a prude – she’s an actress herself, having played Sally Webster/Metcalfe on Coronation Street for the last 34 years. But the chaste kisses she’s shared on screen with TV hubbies Kevin Webster and Tim Metcalfe, and a couple of other blokes her character’s had dalliances with, don’t quite compare to the raunchy romps Phoebe enacted for the eight-part series.

“I’m very proud of Phoebe and as a family we’re excited to see Bridgerton,” said Sally, 57, before the show aired. Phoebe’s dad Tim’s in the TV industry himself, a scriptwriter who works on long-running British soap Emmerdale.

Despite the fact that her parents work in TV, Phoebe, 25, made sure they saw a somewhat censored version. And she admits she felt very awkward about her grandparents and younger siblings, Samuel, 23, and Harriet, 17, seeing the rude bits.
